End of vacation!

The end of Spring Break and vacation!
So the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end,” and so goes our Florida Keys romp!

No complaints, except maybe for the day one Golf Cart fiasco…. it was an actual relaxing vacation!! Unlike most vacations we didn’t pack a million things into every day, whereas you come back from vacation more stressed and more tired then when you left.. NOT that Gwen didn’t try!!!

So with one short overnight stop at Patrick AFB on the way home we returned to Jacksonville ready to get home and start the week anew!

Now sadly is the count-down to Gwen’s departure for parts east of here, way east! However it is looking like we will at least have the family together for Easter! BUT as is the Navy, things can change on a daily basis so we are just hoping for the best!

The Keys vacation continues….

Spring Break
Enjoying our time away from home and taking in the wonderful weather and experience of the Florida Keys.image

Ventured down to Key West and tried in one dayto get everything we could out, and I think we were successful. We parked on Duval street and did our family version of the “Duval Crawl” hitting a few spots for some cold refreshments… Angelica and Gwen got them some braids in there hair while Daddy and Cruz got our Tattoos..!image

Did the old town Trolley thing, which gave us a quick down and dirty history lesson on the city while dropping us off on the Southern most point for our standard touristy photo op!! Then headed to Mallory square, and while we missed sunset by a few minutes we still got to see some of the street performers.

Yesterday was BOAT day. We rented a boat for the day and ventured out to sea!! we started on the Gulf Of Mexico and went to the Atlantic ocean all in one day!! Kids absolutely had a ball swimming in the calm warm waters off the Keys. They got to swim, fish, fly kites, and of course get LOTS of sun!! The family that suns together, SUNBURNS together!!!! It was a long, exhausting day but very enjoyable. Both kids got their NAP on during the return ride back to the boat dock!!imageimage

Florida Keys here we gooooooo!!!!

So the kids are both on spring break this coming week (March 14-22) plus it our last real break as a family before Mama Gwen leaves to the middle east on the USS Iwo Jima.

Traffic on th way down was light and nice right until we hit US1 at the end of the Florida turnpike, imagethen we only had  mere 50 miles till our campsite at Fiesta Keys… but that 50 miles took us about 2.5 hours!!! So is the keys an on and sometimes 2 lanes of traffic.

Made it safey and happy to Fiesta Keys, afer a few normal check-in fubmbkes we got our spot on the ocean and saw a great sunset. Oh yea aftet the ride around the campsite in the golf cart wheras I was not paying attention and let poor Cruz fall out of the cart and hit the asphalt!!! fortunately its all scrapes and bruises and no ER visits!!!image
